There are many ways to prepare Fu Zi. Unfortunately, some of them involve dangerous and carcinogenic chemicals to remove the peel. In addition, most traditional methods of treatment include Magnesium Chloride in the treatment process. Spring Wind's Fu Zi goes directly from the farm in Jiang You County, Sichuan Province to the processing plant where it is peeled mechanically and then steamed. The intense and prolonged steaming turns the root black and reduces the toxicity of the Fu Zi to the same degree as other treatment methods.
Fu Zi should be used with caution. It should be pre-cooked for one hour.
